As an International Fashion Model, Sumayah has worked for many fashion designers and has also graced the catalogues and campaigns for GAP, Dockers, Avon, Wella, Sears, J.C.Penny, Barcardi… As a journalist, she branched out into news reporting for Channel 8: an ABC subsidiary station, in the USVI. She teamed up with BET and co-hosted the pre- jazz show on location in St. Lucia for the “2003 St. Lucian Jazz Fest” and has continued to Host various shows. Her entrepreneurship abilities offered her a tremendous outlet for her to expose her photography background through a multi- ethnic greeting card company – sCarte. As a motivational speaker Sumayah’s goal is to effectively motivate teens and others as well, to achieve higher levels of individual and self-empowerment. She’s participates as a Key Speaker for “EmpowerHerment Series” in NYC and nationwide which focuses on empowering women. Sumayah has been on the Board of Directors for SPPNY (Single Parent Project New York) for 10 years. In 2017 Sumayah became a CUNY Adjunct Professor and New York State TASC Examiner, as well as completing certification as an ESOL Teacher. Sumayah currently volunteers at Henry Street Settlement weekly teaching ESL Conversation Classes. With her creative drive, she continues to work on her new ventures: Sumayah In The Lobby (Talk Show) - - as Host, Creator, and Executive Producer - coming to you soon , so stay tuned. Most importantly, Sumayah is aproud mother of two lovely girls Summar & Skyé.
